Alamo Heights ISD voters overwhelmingly approved three bond propositions in May 2023. Bond 2023 will provide updated learning spaces at all campuses, continue to address safety and security, and allow the district to be better community partners with additional parking, improved traffic flow, and outdoor and meeting spaces for community use.

The work will be divided into three project packages. Planning for Package One began in summer/fall 2023. AHISD is committed to sharing regular updates about the design, planning, and construction phases during this exciting time for the district.

Package One Update- December 2023 and January 2024

District staff and Trustees worked with architects from LPA Design Studios and Bartlett Cocke General Contractors in planning for Bond 2023 Package One construction which will begin in May 2024 with new construction at Alamo Heights High School.

Campus staff and leaders were involved in more than 10 meetings during the conceptual design process in fall of 2023, providing input on needs for more collaborative spaces, a design focused on teaching and learning, increased square footage, and additional outdoor learning spaces.



The new high school schematic design was shared at the January 2024 Board Meeting. Construction at AHHS is expected to last from May 2024 until August 2026.



Package One also includes the relocation of the Excel Academy and Connects program to the current AHISD Central Office and the construction of a new Central Office/Learning Center for our school community.

“A Walk Down Memory Lane” - April 2024 

 With a nod to the past and a look to the future, hundreds of Mules took A Walk Down Memory Lane at AHHS in April 2024. At this special event, community members were able to walk the halls, take pictures, look at yearbooks and class photos, reunite with classmates and teachers, and share their favorite memories.

Howard Early Childhood Center - construction May 2026 to July 2027
Alamo Heights Junior School - construction April 2027 to June 2028
