Comprehensive School Counseling Program

Comprehensive School Counseling Program

School Counselors adhere to professional, legal, and ethical standards and utilize guidance, counseling, crisis management, consultation, coordination, and assessment interpretation competencies to provide services to all students.

Through participation in the program, students develop knowledge and skills regarding intrapersonal effectiveness, interpersonal effectiveness, post-secondary planning/career readiness, and personal health and safety. These skills are emphasized through a variety of lessons and activities that encompass the AHISD Profile of a Learner and the recommended competency indicators from the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs. Based on the individualized needs of each campus, the delivery of these concepts and skills may vary from school to school.

All professional guidance and counseling services are delivered through the four program components of a guidance curriculum, an individual planning system, responsive services, and system support.
